wellbeing work. It crosses sectors, disciplines, departments and universities
but there are few opportunities to come together. TheÌýCatalysing
Connections for Adolescent Health and WellbeingÌýevents provide
researchers, practitioners, policy makers and implementers this opportunity to
discuss topics of mutual interest.Ìý

On Wednesday 28thÌýJuly, 192 people joined us online for another virtualÌýCatalysing ConnectionsÌýwebinar. Our guest panellists discussed the impact of the pandemic on the mental health and overall wellbeing of adolescents in Australia, and how service systems and the education sector have responded.

The Missing Middle: The Importance of the Middle YearsÌý
On Thursday 15th October 2020, 238 people
attended our first virtualÌýCatalysing Connections webinar. Elly
Robinson hosted the panel discussion on the middle years, addressing:

Adolescent health and criminal justice: How can they co-exist?
On Wednesday 6th November 2019, 70 people attended our final
2019ÌýCatalysing ConnectionsÌýevent where Professor Stuart
Kinner hosted a Q&A style discussion (moderated by Elise Worthington from
ABC TV) on criminal justice and adolescent health, addressing what it is that
‘we’ should do differently to:
- Prevent young people ending up in detention
- Meet the health-related needs of young people in
detention
- Achieve
the best health-related outcomes for young people after release from
detention.

Everyone’s business: schools, mental health and learnings
On Thursday 1st August 2019, 70 people attended the
secondÌýCatalysing ConnectionsÌýevent. The topic of the evening
was, ‘Everyone’s business: schools, mental health and learning’.ÌýProfessor
Susan Sawyer hosted a panel discussion about the health and education
interface, and the important role schools play in adolescent (and child) mental
health.

Paediatrics 2040: the future of child and adolescent health services
On Wednesday 3rdÌýApril 2019, the Centre for Adolescent
Health, hosted the inauguralÌýCatalysing Connections for Adolescent
Health and WellbeingÌýnetworking event at the Murdoch Children’s
Research Institute, with guest presenter Professor Russell Viner from the UK.
The session discussed challenges around the provision of quality adolescent
health care including the fragmentation in health services.Ìý

A new seminar series on Adolescent Health
Advancing Adolescent Health in the Asia Pacific: A virtual community to share knowledge and support collaboration is an opportunity to come together to share knowledge, showcase new findings and/or research methods with the overarching objective of helping to build capacity in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, to improve adolescent health and wellbeing.
